ACT Apricot F1

Ο υπολογιστής ACT Apricot F1 κυκλοφόρησε το 1984, μετά τον Apricot PC, από την εταιρεία ACT. Ο σχεδιασμός του F1 ήταν καινοτόμος για την εποχή του γιατί διέθετε ασύρματο πληκτρολόγιο και ποντίκι, με τη σύνδεση να επιτυγχάνεται μέσω υπέρυθρων. Η υπέρυθρη σύνδεση ήταν αρκετά σπάνια στους υπολογιστές. Ο F1 συγκαταλέγεται ανάμεσα στους ελάχιστους υπολογιστές που ήταν εξοπλισμένοι με αυτή τη δυνατότητα, όπως ο ACT Apricot Portable, Exelvision EXL-100 κ.α. Το πληκτρολόγιο του F1 ξεχώριζε για την διάταξη των πλήκτρων F (Functions), τα οποία ήταν τοποθετημένα στην δεξιά μεριά. Επίσης, λόγω του ότι το πληκτρολόγιο και ποντίκι ήταν ασύρματα διέθεταν μπαταρίες. Ο F1 συνοδευόταν από μια μονόχρωμη οθόνη, υπήρχε όμως και η δυνατότητα σύνδεσης σε έγχρωμη οθόνη. Είχε μια μονάδα δισκέτας 3,5 ιντσών. Επίσης, δεν ήταν συμβατός με IBM PC. Το συγκεκριμένο μοντέλο δεν ήταν ιδιαίτερα φθηνό γι’ αυτό και δεν είχε μεγάλη εμπορική επιτυχία παγκοσμίως. Μια λιγότερο ακριβή έκδοση κυκλοφόρησε επίσης, με το όνομα F1e. Ήταν το ίδιο μηχάνημα με περιορισμένη μνήμη RAM. Ο F1 σταμάτησε να κυκλοφορεί το 1986.

The computer ACT Apricot F1 was released in 1984, after the launch of Apricot PC, by ACT. The design of the F1 was quite innovative for its time because it had an infrared keyboard and mouse. There was no lead or cord between the keyboard and the main unit. All the communication was made through infrared signals. The infrared connection was quite rare in computers. The F1 is one of the few computers equipped with this feature, such as the ACT Apricot Portable, Exelvision EXL-100 and others. The F1 keypad stood out for the layout of the F (Functions) keys, which were located on the right side. Also, because the keyboard and mouse were wireless, they had to be constantly powered with batteries. The F1 had a monochrome monitor, but there was also the possibility of connecting a color monitor. It had a 3.5-inch floppy disk drive. Also, F1 was not IBM PC compatible. It was not particularly cheap so it didn’t have a commercial success worldwide. A slightly less expensive version was also released, labeled F1e. It was the same machine with less RAM. The F1 was discontinued in 1986.
